DSAI Leaves Turkey Embassy

DSAI, on his own accord, has left the embassy this evening after the meeting between Rais Yatim and Turkey Ambassador. He decided to leave after the government has agreed to make "all the undertakings to assure his personal safety." He spent a day at the Turkish Embassy.

Upon leaving the embassy, DSAI has said that he will soon announce the defection of four ruling party lawmakers to his alliance this week with which he will contest in a by-election for a seat in the parliament. He was banned from holding any political position in the country until this year April . However, his political comeback will be much more complicated having this case on against him. He will surely need to attend court hearing, another political ban may come out, and etc.. "They will keep me very busy in the next days on this case," he said outside the embassy this evening.

Dia Tuduh DSAI Liwat Lagi!

Another sodomy allegation on DSAI. Unbelievable. The latest news is the release of a photo of the accuser, Saiful Bukhari Azlan, with one of Najib's Senior Officers, Khairil Anas Yusof, by Datin Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. DSAI will probably have to be taken under police custody for investigation. I just pray for strength for DSAI to survive our police "investigation procedure" this time around, if detained. This detention could mean a life threat for DSAI.

DSAI said in his media statement: "The report has been organized by interested parties to attack me in retaliation for evidence I have recently obtained implicating IGP Musa Hassan and the AG Gani Patail in misconduct including fabrication of evidence in the cases launched against me in 1998-1999. This vile attack will not prevent me from releasing this dossier to the public."

He also said that he has, since this year General Election, received "numerous credible sources from within the government and military intelligence" which have indicated that "certain agents from within Barisan Nasional leadership have initiated plots to cause harm to me or my family or my supporters." Fearing of his safety, PKR decided to seek refuge from several embassies, and Turkey Embassy was the first to accept DSAI under their protection. DSAI has been with them since 6.00 am this morning.

Hishamuddin Hussein in response to the above statement claimed that DSAI seeking refuge from outsiders is an attempt to divert people's attention from his "liwat" case. He further said: "Anwar (pada masa itu) pernah membuat dakwaan kononnya beliau cuba dibunuh dengan racun arsenik, memerlukan pembedahan tulang belakang dan menghadapi masalah tengkuk."

Khairy Jamaluddin when asked for comments on this latest news hit said: "Anwar is a highly creative politician in acquiring people's sympathy." He further suggests that: "‘‘Saya sendiri tidak menolak kemungkinan Anwar sendiri yang menyuruh pembantunya itu membuat laporan polis dan ini adalah satu taktik konspirasi beliau untuk meraih simpati orang ramai."

What do you reckon from the comments of these two young politicians of our country? Do you guys really think that DSAI needs to plot this whole setup to acquire our support? The whole world have seen how greatly people endorse him as a leader for Malaysia. UMNO and BN are in the most shacking state in their history and we would only need to sit by and watch the downfall of the party. The recent allegation by Raja Petra Kamaruddin on Najib's wife being involved in Altantuya's murder case is sufficient enough to turn the whole nation towards Pakatan Rakyat. Come on la Mr. Hisham and Mr. KJ. Please come up with something brilliant.

Rais Yatim just had an official meeting with Turkey ambassador, Barlaz Ozener, this evening at Wisma Putra. And we will expect a media statement from Rais Yatim tonight in the news regarding Turkey's involvement in this matter.

The Government Wants to Help Us

I was laughing all the way to the end while I was reading this news in NST. The government wants to lessen our burden now that the fuel and food price has hiked. Now you tell me how many times the price hike has occurred in the last decade? And throughout the decade, have you ever felt that your burden has eased with any of the government projects? Believe you me that our nation is a rich one.

But health and education are hardly free when these two are undeniably our rights. Now, they sound a lit bit more serious about helping us facing this price hike which is more aggrassive that any of the previous ones. I personally am willing to give them a few years to realize what has been said in the Mid-term Review of RMK 9 yesterday.

WAllahi, I will take his (Pak Lah) word this time and insha Allah I will never forget it.

...the government was committed to easing the burden on the people. People-centric projects provide basic amenities and directly benefit the people, such as water supply, electricity, health facilities, education, low-cost housing, poverty eradication and public safety.

Help will be extended in the form of aid to children, the aged, those with special needs, patients with chronic diseases and those with artificial limbs.

Dear my fellow Malaysians, please remember these words as we will redeem them in the next general election.

Menerusi tarbiyahlah Rasulullah S.A.W. membersihkan jiwa para sahabat daripada kekaratan jahiliyah.

Bagaimana Allah S.W.T mengajarkan Ar-Rasul S.A.W. cara-cara tarbiyah?

Sadaqa Rasulullah S.A.W.

Gays and Lesbians: Are they natural phenomenon?

Do you think that being a gay or lesbian is natural? Do you believe that some people are born to have affection towards people of their own gender? I personally do not believe that simply because my God tells me that it is not true.

"O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife [Hawwa (Eve)], and from them both He created many men and women; and fear Allâh through Whom you demand (your mutual rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allâh is Ever an All¬Watcher over you." -An-Nisa': 1

"And We have created you in pairs." -An-Naba': 8

"Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth, when or how you will, and send (good deeds, or ask Allâh to bestow upon you pious offspring) for your ownselves beforehand. And fear Allâh, and know that you are to meet Him (in the Hereafter), and give good tidings to the believers (O Muhammad SAW)." -Al-Baqarah: 223

"It is made lawful for you to have sexual relations with your wives on the night of As-Saum (the fasts). They are Lîbas (i.e. where you enjoy the pleasure of living with them) for you and you are the same for them." -Al-Baqarah: 189

"O you who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will, and you should not treat them with harshness that you may take away part of the Mahr you have given them, unless they commit open illegal sexual intercourse. And live with them honourably. If you dislike them, it may be that you dislike a thing and Allâh brings through it a great deal of good." An-Nisa': 19

Islam Hadhari: Wujud atau Tidak?

Al-fadhil Ustaz Dr Mohd Asri has not personally replied my email dated on June 7th. But alhamdulillahi rabbil 'alameen, I've found the clarification for my incertitude regarding the issue Islam Hadhari in an interview with al-fadhil Ustaz in i-Magazine (May 2008 issue).

Again, he agreed the fact that the contents of Islam Hadhari proposed by Pak Lah are in no way against the principles of Islam. In fact, the contents are there to actuate Islamic modernization in our country. Among the contents are to create a fair and clean state administration, to help the people of the nation to be progressive and proactive, etc. However, the main problem here is that the label used--Islam Hadhari--conveys a controversial message. "Bayangkan sudah empat tahun, kerajaan masih berusaha keras untuk memberi kefahaman, mengenai Islam Hadhari. Semua orang keliru," Dr Mohd Asri said.

As I mentioned in my email to al-fadhil Ustaz, the label has brought up the idea that the government is introducing a new and more "modern" Islam, which is Islam Hadhari. Al-fadhil Ustaz personally in the interview agreed that the word Islam should be replaced with other labels like "Gerakan Hadhari", or "Pemikiran Hadhari". According to him, a careful analysis must be conducted before we decide to use the word Islam as label to avoid misunderstandings, especially, in the era when Islam is constantly suffering from immense criticism and poor reputation.

To me, the product is there, but the branding does not represent the product at all. The branding has totally swayed people away from learning and understanding the product. That's the reason why until today, the government has been increasingly defensive regarding Islam Hadhari--to not have people thought that it is a new religion. "Perkara ini tidak diterima rakyat, kita hanya membuang masa untuk berkempen sesuatu yang tidak wujud," al-fadhil Ustaz replied when asked about the next approach for Islam Hadhari.

Let's now take a look at the decision of Selangor's Pas to unauthorize all activities promoting Islam Hadhari. Personally, I feel that publicizing their decision to unauthorize any activity pertaining Islam Hadhari is more politically motivated. It will be much wiser if they sat only with the Ulama' and Imams of the state and discussed their intention to clear up the confusion surrounding this issue. Going to the press and "proudly" announcing to the public that "we will ban any program promoting Islam Hadhari" will only reheat the controversy and complicate the confusion. The people who have the required knowledge to discuss and understand all the perplexities behind this issue are not the majority.

The unauthorization could be executed without a public announcement to the people and that would be much safer to the aqidah of the people. Learn from the mistake of the federal government--they've spent all the years since they first introduced the idea talking about the label. And we don't want to do the same. We all realize that the label has confounded our people. Hence, distract the crowd from the label and pull them near to tarbiyah activities (so they will learn what is actually Islam). Direct them to the 10 practices listed by Dr. Said Ramadhan al-Buti in his book, Hadharah al-Islamiah, which is where Pak Lah got the idea to embark on Islam Hadhari model.

Sadaqatul Jaariyah - the Actions That Will Outlive You

My mum sent me an email titled "Memanjangkan Sedekah Jariyah". The email contains an article suggesting a few deeds we can do to continuously stockpile our pahala.

1) Give someone a copy of Koran.
2) Donate a wheel chair to a hospital.
3) Share articles that convey values like god-consciousness, virtue, righteousness, and honor.
4) Help in one's education.
5) Teach someone a do'a .
6) Participate in building a mosque.
7) Buy a water dispenser and place it in a public place.

The above list does not contain all suggestions from the email. I picked the ones that I personally feel relevant to our locus.

Selamat beramal!

World Disasters

1) Cyclone in Myanmar - a worse cyclone than the last major one that hit Myanmar in 1968. At least 18,000 were left homeless and endangered by epidemics.

2) Flood in Midwest - this "flood of 2008" has forced at least 24, 000 people to flee Iowa.

3) Earthquake in China - the quake that has killed approximately 40,000 people while tens of thousands are still missing.

4) Earthquake in North Japan - an earthquake of 6.8 magnitude has hit Northern Japan early this morning. So far, three are found dead and three are confirmed missing.

5) Food crisis in Africa - watching images of Pokot tribesmen of Kenya eating roasted rats in a bid to avoid starvation, images of rioters in Egypt, Senegal, Cameroon, Burkina Faso and Mozambique among others clashing with police in protest against soaring food prices and Kenya's abandoned IDPs all tell a similar story: food is scarce.

Usrah

Pernahkah kau dipersoalkan begini apabila kau menjemput rakan-rakan kau menghadiri jilsah atau "usrah"?
-"Nak jadi baik bukannya setakat pegi usrah je!"

First time working on car

I am waiting for Shaafi and Edham to go for lunch. Earlier this morning, I replaced battery for Faran's car. It was my first time and alhamdulillah the car seems to work. I pray I did not miss anything while I was changing the battery. I don't want anything bad to happen to the car and especially to its owner. =P

Here is where I learn to replace car battery. It's quite easy and I think you can do it quicker after the first time. I want to learn how to replace tyres next. Hopefully tayar kereta Faran pancit tak lama lagi. =P

Challenge of diversity

I'm done with my English class for this semester. Yesterday I had the final examination. The exams was actually fun especially when it came to the essay part. The question asked whether a multicultural society would gain more in terms of development than a monocultural one would do. And of course I'd say multicultural society would progress better.

"O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allâh is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa. Verily, Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Aware. " (Al-Hujuraat: 13)

But a multicultural nation will not succeed just because it has a diverse society. Challenges of diversity are there and these challenge can simply turn the country upside down if not well met. What are the challenges? I would like to comment on one of them. A society of different beliefs and traditions is fragile. Naturally, human beings are more attracted to differences and contrast than to similarities and matches. Differences are there for us to enjoyed and our likenesses in humanity are there to connect us. The differences can only be enjoy with respect and positive mindset. And our similarities can only connect us if we think about them and appreciate them. The truth is we are a lot more alike than we are different but many of us do not realize this. Learn about ourselves and others to understand and appreciate what God has created.

Keadilan-Mu & Pengampunan-Mu

Bila aku merasa dianiaya
Bila aku merasa kebuntuan jalan
Aku ingin menadah tangan
memohon atas nama Mu al-'Adl
Tetapi aku seakan kebejatan upaya
untuk menampung sepuluh jari meminta
akibat bimbangkan keadilan-Mu
yang hanya menambah laknat padaku
Lantaran dosa dan kehinaan diri
yang lebih hitam dari lumpur hitam

Selajur aku teringat akan nama Mu al-Ghaffar
Lantas lari bimbangku sejauhnya
Lantaran keluasan pengampunan-Mu
yang tiada bertepi
Aku memohon atas belas kasihan
dan kasih sayang Mu
Supaya diampuni dosa
dibersihi dan dikasihi diri
Supaya aku ampuh menerima
segala aniaya maupun petaka
sebagai kaffarah penghapus noda

My email to Dr Mohd Asri

Following my recent post titled "Second Blog", I've sent an email to Ustaz Dr. Mohd Asri asking for more clarification on the issue of unauthorization of Islam Hadhari in Selangor. The email goes like this:

"Assalamualaikum SS Ustaz Mohd Asri,

Jazakallahu khairan.
Wassalam,
-Harith Abdul Malek"

Alhamdulillah (I'm happy)

Last week, my younger brother registered into USIM for Foundation in Laws & Syariah. Alhamdulillah, everything went well though he seemed quite nervous. Yela, first day masuk universiti. I'll pray for his well-being. The day before my brother went to USIM, I paid a visit to my auntie's in Nilai. Got to meet my super cute little cousins--Ali, Fatimah, Muhammad, & Khadijah. It has been months since the last time we met. And I was ecstatic when each of them were trying to tell their stories. Ali gave up the earliest because he could not hold my attention for more than a minute. Muhammad has started kindergarten this year. Khadijah can read alphabets and she will only be three years old in December.

Muhammad & Khadijah

And that night, after the kids had gone to bed, I thought about what defines happiness. My happiness. And just before I fell asleep, I came out with the following list of events that make me happy.
  1. to lepak at a big mosque with my brothers.

  2. to listen to anak-anak telling their different stories at the same time.

  3. to eat cendol after Asr with my families.

  4. to talk about my future families with my parents; how many kids I wanna have and how my dear Mommy want at least a granddaughter.

  5. to have someone who can make me laugh and yet not forget about death.
